Tehran criticizes Canada's lack of coop to hold Iran’s presidential elections

Tehran, June 11, IRNA – The Iranian presidential election office secretary has criticized the Canadian government's lack of cooperation to engage Iranians residing in the country in the upcoming Iranian presidential elections.

With initiatives taken by the Foreign Ministry of Iran, voting will be taken from Iranian citizens residing in Canada in a US border city close to the Canadian border, Esmail Mousavi pointed out.

Unfortunately, no proper response has been received from the Canadian government to hold direct presidential elections in the country, he noted.

Thanks to the short time left and the impossibility of sending executive personnel by the Foreign Ministry, it is not possible to hold the elections directly in the state, for now, he further noted.

Iran’s 13th presidential election will be held simultaneously with the sixth round of municipal council elections for the cities and villages, the first mid-term for 11th round of parliamentary by-election, and the second mid-term for the fifth round of Assembly of Experts' election on June 18, 2021.
